Very fine album by Bell.
Very Clean and energetic, great for concentrated listening. I prefer Brian Crain's Piano and Violin Duet when I want to relax.
Not really the best they can do
Bell and Denk are fine players in their own right, but seemed to have missed the mark on this one. I think that they think that by French Music they mean to play superficially as a means of sounding care free. This is a common missconception. There are moments when both either forget to listen to each other, or just don't seem to care that much about what they're playing. There are some moments, as they are very capable playing, but Bell's signature slides grate against you afte a while, Just hit the dang note already! If you're a fan of either player you'll probablly get this and while I admire both musicians, I can't really recommend that anyone go out of thier way to get this. -Bz
