Very good yet, VERY overlooked!
Song of Norway is an old musical with themes of the classical composer Greig in the score, adapted by Robert Wright and George Forrest (who also adapted the music of clasical composer Borodin for their well known musical "Kismet"). The musical premiered in 1944 (not 1945 like shown). It is based on the life of the composer Edvard Greig, and although it ran for an astonishing 860 performances (Aug. 21, 1944 - Sept. 7, 1946) on Broadway, the movie was terrible. All elements of this musical as a whole are very, very good, so I completely recommend buying this album, and NOT viewing the movie. Let's just hope there is a revival just as amazing as the initial run.
