Ratings and Reviews
I have been very impressed with Jon Thurlow's creativity compared to many Christian artists. In his singing, he seems to connect with the listener, relating to his/her thoughts and hurts and ideas about God. Thurlow's new album declares the love and ministry of Jesus in a new way. His lyrics put a new perspective on Christ's duality between man and God, and the emotions and feelings that came out of that. He portrays Jesus as a man that one can relate to and hurt with, but in the same breath, as God who deserves honor and glory. The music, the lyrics and the passion behind the songs all give Jon Thurlow's album such a rich and beautiful musicality.
Absolutely beautiful and worshipful
I recently came across this album and must say it far exceeds my expectations. Each and every song, whether vocal or instrumental, excels musically and in an attitude of worship. The solo piano arrangements lift the listener close to the heart of God while the deep yet simple lyrics point our minds to dwell on things above. It is quiet yet powerful. Praise the Lord for giving Jon a heart to worship Him! Outstanding in every way!
About Jon Thurlow
Since joining the ministry at Kansas City's International House of Prayer in 2004, singer/songwriter and Colorado Springs native Jon Thurlow has quietly recorded a string of successful, self-released independent albums. His gentle, hushed voice and strong piano-led faith ballads have gained him a following in the contemporary Christian music community. His diligence was rewarded in 2013 when he signed a deal with Forerunner Music, the Kansas City church's large in-house label and home to several other successful Christian acts. Thurlow's seventh album -- and first live recording -- Stand in Awe was released by Forerunner later that year and features 11 original songs culled from his earlier releases. ~ Timothy Monger
