5 Songs, 30 Minutes

EDITORS’ NOTES

Mumbai guitar whiz Kush Upadhyay is at his incendiary best on Soon You’ll See The Old. Armed with riffs and a crack team of musicians—drummer Jai Row Kavi, bassist Nathan Thomas and vocalist Azamaan Hoyvoy—he serves up five tracks of shape-shifting, stargazing rock. (Blackstratblues’s Warren Mendonsa co-produced, mixed and mastered the EP.) Over the band’s molten rhythms, Upadhyay dives into the chasm-like wail of the title track and “My Friend Fudgeface’s” mammoth riffs, revealing himself as a prodigious improviser.
