EDITORS’ NOTES

Put simply, the soundtrack to Subedar Joginder Singh is just as stirring as the docudrama’s high-stakes tale of one of India’s bravest soldiers—Singh, along with a battalion of just 20, led his men against 600 Chinese troops during the Sino-Indian war of 1962. Young folk singer (and viral star) Feroz Khan’s gorgeous take on the ballad “Naina”, and the patriotic “Ae Watan” leave an emotional impact, while actor-singer Gippy Grewal, who stars in the film, lends his strong, inspiring voice to two of the songs here—the thrilling “Ishq Da Tara” and the album opener “Gal Dil Di”, whose dhol and tabla lines will get you up and dancing.
