Black Metal

I honestly don't like the remake at all, they took out the piano solo in the begining of Alt Lys Er Svunnet Hen wich got me mad, they took out the origional Sorgens Kammer wich was also a very good piano solo, they ruined Nar Sjelen Hentes Til Helvete(changed the begining), Antikrist was faster(bad), the gutiars sounded very different(bad) and they replaced the flute part(made it sound very gloomy) with a very bad riff. The bad quality in the origional made it sound more atmospheric and gloomy. The rest of the album isn't that bad. I would recommend the origional Stormblåst than the remake.

Absolutely do not agree.

The original Stormblåst was indeed a Black Metal masterpiece, but people need to understand that Dimmu Borgir are not just ordinary Black Metal. They are one of the most famous because of their always interesting additions and influences in the genre. To a new listener of Black Metal, people may confuse bands such as Bathory and Mayhem (in severe cases with Behemoth) due to the music which sounds rather similar. Dimmu takes Black Metal and cyborgs it with several other traits in their music. The sound of the 2005 Recording of Stormblåst is made to sound like riding thunder and lightning across the ocean during a monster of a storm. According to Shagrath and Silenoz (the band's lead singer and guitarist - the original founding fathers) the album is made to FIRE out energy and power, which was not the case in the original recording. Take my advice - if you want to listen to the old album, I respect that. Find where you can get some tracks. But please, understand what makes this album the masterpiece it is.

Great album, terrible re-recording

The original Stormblast was so much better. Get that instead.

Genre: Rock

Years Active: '90s, '00s, '10s

Blending black metal's most brutal tendencies, the melancholic beauty of opera, and industrial metal's production techniques, Dimmu Borgir carved a niche in the metal world as one of the most savage and creative acts to hail from the Norwegian scene. The group first started in 1993, when members Shagrath (vocals), Erkekjetter Silenoz (guitar), and Tjodalv (guitar and drums) came together to join the emerging metal scene. Although some groups like Emperor and Mayhem had already been making noise for...
