Editors’ Notes

During the past decade, Tim McGraw has remained on the forefront of crossover country by continually broadening his horizons (2012’s Emotional Traffic features a duet with neo-soul singer Ne-Yo). With all the cut-off jeans and Main Street cruising, Two Lanes of Freedom finds the singer returning to the genre's slightly more traditional roots. But for every straight-laced country charmer like “One of Those Nights” and “Nashville Without You” there’s another where McGraw pines for a yoga teacher (“Friend of a Friend”) or name-checks Lil Wayne (“Truck Yeah”). Perhaps the lasting message of Two Lanes of Freedom is that you can take Tim McGraw out of the big city, but you can’t take the big city out of Tim McGraw.

Customer Reviews

New label, new McGraw

Tim McGraw is finally free from the clutches of Curb Records, and with his new freedom comes an amazing album that will remind fans why he is one of country music's best and most legendary artists.

This is Tim

I have been a Tim fan since "Indian Outlaw." I've enjoyed every album released with the exception of the last few. It was so obvious that his heart was not in the music he was releasing (thanks to Curb.) With this new label & album the music is great. I'm so glad he's been given the oportunity to release music that feels right to him... Tim is back :)

TIM MCGRAW, DON'T HATE❤

To all of you who complained about Taylor Swift and Keith Urban in this album, who cares. Are they in all of the songs? No. Just one. If you don't like them, don't listen to the song. End of story. I'm sick of people complain about those stupid little things. That is a poor reason to not listen to the other songs or "buy the album". Tim McGraw is great, always was and always will be and this album is amazing. 👍👍❤❤

Years Active: '90s, '00s, '10s

When Tim McGraw debuted in the early '90s, few would have predicted that he would eventually take over Garth Brooks' position as the most popular male singer in country music. Yet that's exactly what he did, thanks to a string of multi-platinum albums, a high-profile marriage to fellow superstar Faith Hill, and Brooks' own inevitable decline. His sound epitomized the strain of commercial country that dominated his era: updated honky tonk and Southern-fried country-rock on the uptempo tunes, well-polished,...
