Customer Reviews

Great cd featuring a great guitarist.

Marc Ford has gone in a slightly different musical direction on his latest offering. Marc still rocks out in a bluesy, soulful way but is backed by a groovy band which incorporate many components to the sound. The guitar work is top notch; great tone too. Marc is truly one of the most talented(underrated) guitarists of our time. Production is also top-notch. One of my favorites of 2008...possibly all time.

Marc Ford and the Neptune Blues Club

This new album from Marc Ford is a more standard-electric-blues offering than his previous efforts. Listening to the album, you instantly get the vibe of a group of musicians gathered together for an impromptu jam at the local blues bar. The band describes itself as a "high octane blues band, a contagious dance band, and a profound psychedelic experience." The lead guitar work is, as expected, stellar. Marc has brought together a fantastic group of veteran LA roots musicians for this record: Anthony Arvizu on skins, Stephen Hodges on precussion, John Bazz on bass, Mike Malone on keys, and Bill Barrett on harmonica. The group gets into some pretty thick grooves over the course of the album. Marc shares lead vocal duties on several songs, to great effect. Standout tracks include the slide and harmonica heavy "Don't Get Me Killed," the upbeat "Smilin'" and the Delaney and Bonnie infused "Keep Holdin' On." Do yourself a favor, support live music and see Marc when he comes by your town- you won't be dissapointed.

Way Too Good...

It's like... they took caldron of Blues, stirred in some Soul, n threw in a pinch of Louisiana before turning on the Funk burner. Just way too good for one han'ful of stars man.

Although he has been performing as a solo artist since the late '90s, guitarist/singer Marc Ford is best known for his contributions to the famous roots rock/hard rock/rock & roll band the Black Crowes. The Los Angeles native, however, was not an original member of the Black Crowes, who were together eight years before he joined. Formed by brothers Chris and Rich Robinson in Atlanta in 1984, the Black Crowes had sold millions of albums by the time they officially hired Ford to replace guitarist...
