Customer Reviews

One of the best pop albums I've ever heard!

The above title might be an exaggeration, but my first impression of this album is just that. I read one review that said it sounds like a walk in the park. I'd say it's like a walk in the park where all the flowers, trees, and woodland creatures are dancing around you and all of a sudden everyone bursts into unified song and all the world seems right (a la Enchanted). Alright, sorry about that, but I couldn't control myself. This duo has a great ability to meld harmonies, melodies, and beautiful instruments together for an album that is pure pop/folk perfection. You'll definitely be able to hear other Swedish bands (Shout Out Louds, Peter, Bjorn, & John, etc,) as an influence for their sound, but Marching Band take these influences and smooth them into a sound that's fun, creative, and just wonderful. No doubt some will have difficulty taking this much sugary sweetness into their musical diet, but Marching Band should appeal to a fairly broad audience. The lyrics are simple but clever, and add to the pleasant, joyous sound. I think I've found my summer album. Favorite Tracks: Gorgeous Behavior, Travel In Time, Letters

This is quite an effortlessly prefect album.

I would do a song by song, but they are all so uniformly lovely and upbeat. I've listened to it 3 times through to try and find a track I didn't love. There isn't one. Highlights are: Feel Good About It, Travel in Time, Aggravate, and especially the opening track, For Your Love. The album has a shimmery lightness that is perfect for summer. Endlessly and effortlessly inspired. Buy this right now.

Outstanding Swedish Indie Pop

First heard these guys on World Cafe online - psyched to see they're getting love from KCRW too. The whole record is so well done - and for just 2 guys, they really deliver a full on album concept and band's worth of tight, creative, indie pop. It's like the Beach Boys meets Peter, Bjorn & John - but with some south African vibe blended in. Production is sweet, understated but adds a level of precision that takes the music to another level. Awesome!!

With only two members on board, Marching Band create a lush, vibrant brand of Swedish pop. Linköping residents Erik Sunbring and Jacob Lind began recording under the Marching Band moniker in 2007, releasing an EP that year before traveling to Los Angeles several months later to record a full-length album. Spark Large appeared in 2008 and earned nods from Rolling Stone (which praised the band's "pillowy pop"), as well as radio outlets like KCRW and NPR. While the band's music fared well in critical...
