Lush, powerful

The ‘Love Theme’ and the ‘Goodbye/End Credits’ compositions are remarkable 1950s works, lush and airy. Alex North was one of the better Hollywood modernists, and North originally scored 2001 for Kubrick (who famously trashed it). If collecting notable 50s scores, this is a must have, and a good place to start a collection. Along with George Duning’s Picnic (Moonlight theme) score, these are two of the most chromatic works in the Hollywood pantheon.
