About Cheena

Inspired by the glitter and sweat of their New York hometown in the '70s and the West Coast cowpunk of the '80s, Cheena feature Crazy Spirit's Walter Behl and Eugene Terry, Anasazi's Keegan Dakkar, Pharmakon's Margaret Chardiet, and Logan Montana of Hank Wood & the Hammerheads. Seeking a change from their existing projects, they joined forces in 2014. They changed their usual instrumental roles as well, with Chardiet on guitar instead of electronics, Dakkar on bass, Terry on drums, and Montana on slide guitar. Borrowing moves from artists ranging from Lou Reed to Kiss to the Gun Club, Cheena debuted with the five-song cassette All the Cheena Money Can Buy on Lo-Fi Lo-Life before releasing a self-titled 7" on Sacred Bones in April 2015. The band's debut album, Spend the Night With..., arrived in August 2016. ~ Heather Phares
