Album Review

The Amenta's second full-length is futuristic yet anachronistic. Its fizzy synths, brooding soundscapes, and micro-level editing employ state-of-the-art computing — but the approach isn't new. Whenever machines and metal intertwine this tightly, the ghost of '90s industrial metal looms large. This record is perhaps the result had Fear Factory applied Demanufacture's technology to Soul of a New Machine's death metal. The Amenta are the death metal analogue to Anaal Nathrakh, and a less extreme, less mechanized cousin to fellow Australians the Berzerker. Guitars are the bright spot, outputting Morbid Angel-esque dissonance, chugging riffs, and sinuous melodies. Although this record sounds like a '90s relic for the most part, "Cancer" is deep and abstract, a true glimpse of the future.

give it a chance

this album is dark,,brutal. The lyrics are what really make it past the radar for me. It's not that the lyrics possese a original concept. IT's just how there are written and vocalized. I simply love how depressing and degrading this album is. Plus for the band they've come a long way since there first album "ocassus". Top tracks are Slave, vermin and dirt. Didn't like Skin though. The voice on in annoys the hell out of me for some reason. Can't stand it. If not for that a few parts on this album that just kind of seem over repeative I'd give it five stars easy. It's gets less for more..Go figure.. really though. Check it out. read the lyrics and try not to be revolted, but it's base honesty of humanity or something almost human..
