Album Review

For Carly Simon, Film Noir is a way to explore traditional pop classics. Using smoky saloon songs like "Ev'rytime We Say Goodbye" as a blueprint, Simon and producer Jimmy Webb create a seductive, intimate atmosphere. Simon's vocals aren't naturally suited to this material, but she acquits herself well, and the two duets — one with Webb and one with John Travolta ("Two Sleepy People") — are charming additions to an ingratiating album.

Nobody does it better than Carly.

Film Noir

I just love Carly Simon's rendition of Laura, one of my all-time favorite songs. It led me to purchase the album and I was not sorry. In the song Film Noir, Carly captured the essence of such movies as Sunset Blvd and You Won't Forget Me brought visions of Barbara Stanwyk in Double Indemnity. Any fan of this genre of movie will be pleased to listen to Film Noir.

Boy, this is like @ the bottom of the bottom of the charts' bottom.
