iTunes Review

Thirteen years after the passing of front man Bradley Nowell, Sublime returns with a new lead singer and a spruced-up sound. On their first album with the band, Rome Ramirez displays plenty of easy-going vocal attitude with a distinct Jamaican flavor, backed up with crisp, in-the-pocket guitar work. For their part, drummer Bud Gaugh and bassist Eric Wilson reaffirm the mastery of slippery dance grooves that they displayed during Sublime’s ‘90s heyday. Tracks like “Take It or Leave It,” “Lovers Rock” and “Same Old Situation” move with an undulating reggae skank as Ramirez holds forth on the joys and hassles of everyday romance. Adding some extra sizzle to the simmering ambiance of the album are “Paper Cuts” (a punky flashback to Sublime’s early days) and “Can You Feel It” (sparked up by dub effects and Wiz Khalifa’s rap break). Ramirez gets mildly political on “Only,” but for the most part keeps the lyric mood light and festive. On its own terms, Yours Truly more than succeeds as a smile-inducing, groove-powered excursion.

you all are RETARDS!! of course the album is going to be different than the original Sublime with Bradley. I think it's awesome that they got back on their feet and are trying to continue Sublime's legacy. Perhaps it would have been better if they changed the name so people don't expect the exact same Sublime. No one can replace Bradley. He's a legend. It's like trying to find someone to replace just can't do it. No one has the same talents and skills as them. But, props to Sublime and Rome for continuing Sublime!!

So bad...

Brad would roll over in his grave... or jump out of it and punch Rome in the face. They really shot themselves in the foot on this one. Not going to waste any more time reviewing this steaming pile of crizzap. Rome certainly is unqualified to represent the LBC.

When the world discovered that Bradley Nowell had tragically died from a heroin overdose, we all thought it would be the end of Sublime. Eric and Bud thought differently...they are back with a strong new album that, to me, feels like a ode to Brad. They have even set up an institution that provides free addiction recovery service to teens, and this will be partially funded by "Yours Truly"'s album sales! So buy this're not only getting some incredible music but also benefitting a good cause!

After frontman Bradley Nowell's death brought an end to the group Sublime, surviving members Eric Wilson (bass) and Bud Gaugh (drums) formed the Long Beach Dub All-Stars before returning to the Sublime catalog in 2009 with a revised lineup named Sublime with Rome. The “Rome” is Rome Ramirez, a singer/guitarist with whom band first played some gigs in 2009 as Sublime. They became Sublime with Rome a year later, the result of a legal hang-up with Nowell's estate, and launched a cross-country tour of...
