"it a miracle, that's what you are"

Miraculous music from the very best singer/songwriter you've probably never heard of. From the first time I heard Katell, in the old Sin e on St. Marks Place in the late summer of '93, I was enthralled. The soaring voice floating out over our upturned faces into the East Village night, the hints of Brittany and Wales in her accent, her masterful song writing - the very deep emotional connection her songs and voice created. "O Season, O Castles", her album which followed the following year was flat out amazing. "Jet" in 2002 was perhaps the most underrated album of that decade. And now Katell takes us to "At the Mermaid Cafe" - another album of transcendent voice and masterful composition. Katell deserves a larger audience and hopefully this new album will bring her the commercial success she so richly deserves.

It's unfortunate that Katell Keineg hasn't released more albums. Everything she churns out is spellbinding. Upon first listens, this album seems a bit sparser than her other efforts. Having lived in NYC, songs like AT THE MERMAID PARADE and SUMMER LOVING SONG capture very different afternoons spent at Coney Island perfectly. Beyond, OLDEN DAYS, WORLD OF SEX, and CALENTURE are highlights!

Her voice is great both recorded and live! I heard her sing awile back in San Fran, she sparkled! She gave me her autograph, she is adorable! I'm soooo excited to hear her new album!

When the family moved to Wales, Keineg immersed herself in local choirs, appearing at several Eisteddfods and exposing herself to the pop sounds of the day. By the age of 16 she was busking on the streets of Cardiff, before professional engagements took her throughout...
