Album Review

Detroit's Atomic Fireballs bring a fresh attitude to swing on their debut album Torch This Place. Tracks like "Man with the Hex," "Mata Hari" and "Starve a Fever" have a driven energy that shows why the group won many new fans on the 1998 Vans Warped Tour. Torch This Place is powerful fun for anyone into the new swing scene.

Bill a U2 fan

GREAT ALBUM!! The only thing that stinks is it's the only one they did. I've had this CD for years and it still sounds fresh & timeless. It never tires. This album is on fire! (Hence the name 'Torch This Place') Not a single bad song. I think there's only like one mid tempo song the rest are fast & swinging right out of the gate. If you like swing with attitude and gritt buy this album! This guy has the coolest voice and the band is awesome! Only wish I'd seen them live and they'd put out another album. If you like modern swing check out the band 'Big Bad Voodoo Daddy'. They tour like crazy and have great albums...check'em out...also check out The 'Brian Setzer Orchestra' same thing with them as well.

Great band

Love this group

Haha, I have to laugh at myself.

I was singing (poorly) Man with the Hex and asked my 60 year old father if he remembered it from when he was growing up. He said "No" and I thought that was odd. I never would have guessed this album was from the 90s, but that's not a bad thing.

The Atomic Fireballs were formed in Detroit in 1996 by John Bunkley and James Bostek. The two of them met when Bostek's wife was working with Bunkley and introduced them. The lineup of the group is Bostek on trumpet, Bunkley on vocals, Tony Buccilli playing trombone, Duke Kingins on guitar, Shawn Scaggs on double bass, Eric Schabo wailing tenor sax,...
