Editors’ Notes

The BoDeans were one of the ‘80s most promising bands, playing a striking, unpretentious guitar-pop that reminded listeners that sometimes the simplest ideas were the best ones. Their releases slowed in the ‘90s, but in the new century the band has managed three albums of perfect pop and American rock ‘n’ roll. Still, produced by T-Bone Burnett, reunited them with the man who produced their debut, but with 2010’s Mr. Sad Clown, the group sets off on their own. BoDean Kurt Neumann produced these tunes in his Texas studio and the sound is punchy and immediate. “Stay” and “Shine” form a power-pop one-two punch that brilliantly exhibits the group’s penchant for bright melodies, supple rhythms and nicely placed harmonies. Their heartland rock is in place as well. The introspective “If…,” the organ-guitar drive of “Say Goodbye” and “Almost Ready” prove this once Wisconsin-based American pop group can do it all with Neumann and Sam Llanas brilliantly combining to make for one of the most underrated duos in rock.

Instant classic...Again

couldnt wait for this album and it didnt dissapoint. another great album from a great band. Go DePaul!!

Well, the BoDeans continue to evolve & surprise us! Much like U2 & REM, the BoDeans have continued to evolve & push the boundaries of their great songwriting, harmonies & performances. As they've gotten older, they've gone deeper with connecting with their fans & their music is raw, emotional & honest. This collection of songs is really terrific & genuine. Well done boys!

Probably their best since Home

I can't say anything negative about this album except that I had to wait for it. this band continues to write fresh, meaningfu lyrics showing emotion and depth and pairing them with instruments that carry the words with grace and style. They nail the perfection of music and lyrics on every song. The combination of Kurt and Sam's unique voices blend better than ever. they're aging like a fine Merlot. where bands from the 80's have fallen short in creativity as of late, BoDeans are better than ever. Can't pick a hit from this CD - they're all too good to choose from. You will not be disappoonted.

Formed in 1984 by high-school friends Sammy Llanas and Kurt Neumann, the BoDeans mixed Midwestern roots rock with elements of adult contemporary pop, fashioning a sound that earned critical acclaim during the '80s and commercial recognition during the following decade.
