Album Review

Steve Laury spent his first two solo efforts trying to lift his breezy electric guitar beyond its previous incarnation as a part of Fattburger's easygoing contempo sound, only succeeding some of the time. Proving that the third time is indeed the charm, Laury does well Keepin' The Faith, mixing in just enough smooth to please Fatt fans but often firing up for some of this year's most energetic string stylings. His tight, punchy spicings are complemented perfectly by the vocal scat and solid keyboard contributions of post Fatt partner and fellow San Diegan Ron Satterfield. Together, Laury and Satterfield compose pieces that balance tender accessibility with explosive creativity. It's an equal and musically satisfying parntership, giving each the opportunity to expand beyond the constrictions of their other associations. Saxman John Rekevics and percussionist Duncan Moore add extra harmonic and rhythmic spice to the mix.

Best since Wes

Steve has some of the smoothest strings in the business.

Another Classic Album!!

Steve Laury used to play guitar for the band fattburger, but since he wanted to play solo, he left the band. Now on his own in 1990, he has made four great albums including this one. all of the song here are good not and one bad song! It's hard to find a "Smooth Jazz" album these days in which ALL the songs are good. For the smooth jazz fan this one will not dissapoint.

Haven't found one bad album!

Steve Laury to me Is one of the most underrated guitarist out there. He has a sound ( close to Wes ) but smooth and mellow. I have All his cd's and every last one of them is great!! Even some of his early work with Fattburger! I hope he'll comes to Philly. Check out his latest "new Steve Laury." Excellent!

A few years later, he moved to San Diego where he met Carl Evans and Mark Hunter; Fattburger resulted. Laury remained in the group for over five years. He launched his solo career in the early 1990s with Stepping...
