Customer Reviews

If you've ever seen Tommy Brunett play his guitar live, you'll wonder if he is one of those crazy m-f'ers who sold his soul at the crossroads. But on his debut studio CD, Hell Or High Water, you'll find his lyrical mastery is as equally potent as his live guitar pickin'. With his whiskey and cigarette soaked voice, Tommy rocks these lyrics into a great country-rock/alt-country vibe through much of the release. Tracks like Born To Walk Alone and Drinkin' Song dig deep into a Johnny Cash roadcase of cheap whiskey and dive bars, while Midnight Ride, Burning Tree, Miles Away, See You Around, and Sticky Stomp push forward a straight-ahead classic rock 'n roll agenda. The raging blues/country rock of Pushin' Time starts it all off with a rack-of-ribs kick in the face, and the title track, Hell or High Water, is an introspective country-rock ballad about being on the road and vowing to make it home at any or all costs. Classic stuff here. It's all a bit like something from an oddly but wonderfully intertwined musical playbook in which Tom Petty is listening to the Rolling Stones on an 8-track while drunk-dialing Johnny Cash, who is over at Robert Johnson's BBQ mackin' on a stripper. My personal favorite, Witch In The Woods, is a quirky, spooky, but highly addictive track that belongs smack in the middle of an episode of True Blood. Love it. Mash all this together and you've got a really interesting and great album from Brunett.

Great, even better in concert!

Saw them open up for the Dixie chick girl group and just last weekend with Lou Gramm (Foriegner). More energy than the groups they opened for. Why they aren't touring with a big group is beyond me. Petty-like group, tons of fun, great listen.

Love it

I am really good friends with him and his music is awesome
