History is Made!

One of the most dramatic and awe inspiring CD's I have ever heard. Filled with lush harmonies, the serenity of a Shakuhachi, and the full out Heroism in a Heroic piece about Freedom for Chorus and Wind Ensemble. This CD is a Must own for ALL veterans, historians, musicians, educators, and ALL people who believe in the cause for Freedom. Stephen Melillo and The Central Band of the Japan Air Self Defense Force send an incredible message of peace to the world. Some of the most beautiful Music you will ever hear!

More people should know about these pieces!

"That We Might Live" is written for the survivors of the Batan Death March. Steve Melillo spent time with the survivors researching their thoughts and feelings about it while composing the piece. After it was completed, the recording was performed by one of the best Japanese bands in the world! Imagine how much effort Steve had to make to get the Japanese Military to allow this piece to be performed in their country by one of their bands!

Tremendous

That history is made on this recording cannot be overstated. Kakehashi: That We Might Live, a piece as much about the Bataan survivors as it is about American anti-Japanese sentiment and vice versa during WW2, being performed by a Japanese band that is of military stature is beyond historic. It is a true bridge from culture to culture, over the past, in the future, made by the only force capable of making it: music. Once again, Steve shows himself as a leader in modern music; this is not your typical "band music" album, but an artistic endeavor to create something of lasting significance.
