Customer Reviews

Still my favorite song of all time...

Sure, nowadays Strangelove is not remembered by most people as the best DM song ever recorded, but, as least to me, it's still a wonderful combination of powerful, catchy synths, melodic lyrics, and that massive arena feeling that would help set the stage for the forthcoming album, "Music for the Masses". A couple of notes: as mentioned in the MFTM album review, "Agent Orange" is actually sampled as "Never Let Me Down Again - Aggro Mix." Also, "PIMPF (Maxi version)" is really "FPMIP".

This is Classic Depeche Mode!

Strangelove has all the makings of a classic Depeche Mode track. A simple but catchy synth-based melody, a percolating bass line, and a great beat. Add Martin Gore's lyrics "Pain, will you return it?" and Dave Gahan's vocals and there you have it. This was also DM's first #1 dance single in the United States first charting in 1987 and then again in 1988 with a new slew of remixes. All of the remix versions here are great and maintain the original integrity of the song. The "Blind Mix" was so good (at the time) that it prompted the band to re-record the track for the album version on "Music for the Masses". This is easily one of DM's 10 best tracks of all time, and it's a shame that the band no longer plays Strangelove in their live shows.

This Song NEVER gets OLD!!!

One of favorite songs from Depeche Mode. Don't Care where I am I love hearing it over and over and the mixes are awesome too.
