iTunes Review

How obsessed were Cut Copy with soaring '80s synth-pop? Put it this way: the sax solo on “Hearts on Fire” might as well be pulled from an ABC radio hit. Vocalist Dan Whitford, a former DJ, nails the detached bon vivant persona, singing of the pleasures and perils of nightlife as swirling synths prop up the band's epic hooks. "Lights & Music" is a kaleidoscopic banger—it builds to a euphoric crescendo designed to blow up the dance floor.

it's what you walk to, love to, run to, dance to

CUT COPY is what you really want. Really want right now. This is what electronic and rock music sound like when they really work together. I highly recommend "Lights & Music," "Hearts On Fire," and their entire album "Bright Like Neon Love" that came before this. I have waited for In Ghost Colours for about a year and a half now! Finally! I love the music of CUT COPY because it's not just fun, sexy, and danceable, but it's smart and influential. The guitar riffs that are just distorted enough, the lyrics that have an angsty tug at the heart, and the synths that give you the inspiration to really cut up a dance floor. I recommend this band to anyone who has ever mentioned Daft Punk, Husky Rescue, The Presets, Sebastian Tellier.... or just is in need of something really good.

Damn Good.

This is the type of record that appeals to us 80's kids. Full of blissful synths, charging new wave guitars and perfect hooks. The mixture of synth and rock hasn't been so well since New Order. Even though I loath to compare bands... but if you happen to like 80's New Wave bands like New Order, Cars and OMD you'll dig this. If you happen to like the NU New Wave bands like Editors, Interpol and The Killers (with a mixture of Daft Punk for good measure, with whom they toured for a bit) you'll DEFINATELY like this. If Daft Punk Could have babies, this is how it would sound

One part funk with one part disco tech, a dash of electronica and you have Cut Copy. I gotta say this is a refreshing album after all the other crap that calls them Electronica out there. I listened to it non stop and never once was I hoping a song to end. This is one of those albums that is a good chill type album after a night out of partying.. 10 stars in my opnion!! Buy it. :-D

Years Active: '00s, '10s

Australian indie electronic group Cut Copy take many of their cues from contemporaries like Air, Daft Punk, and LCD Soundsystem, but with a distinctly pop sensibility that draws on classic AM radio pop singles from the 1970s and '80s, with elements of vintage disco and synth pop that appeal to song-based listeners as well as to club kidz. Cut Copy started in 2001 as a solo project by songwriter, producer, and DJ Dan Whitford, who released the single 1981 and the EP I Thought of Numbers before drafting...
