A group that shows promise.

Once a plentyful field to choose from, the newest crop of young string quartets to have a lasting musical legacy has been slim to say the least. Enter the Pavel Hass, a group that displays an astonishing sense of maturity for a group of it's age. Choosing a program of Prokofiev was a daring choice. The Haas play with convincing bravado that makes the listener think twice about the works. For those looking for a new group to watch, or a decent recording of the Prokofiev quartets, this s a good as place as any to start. -Bz
