Well here is one of the greatest CD's by an unsigned band on the national touring circuit. Josey and Chris from Saliva were in this band, as was Brian 'Cheeze' Hall who later went on to play with Sebastian Bach's Tight Five. Meatcake is a huge song to start off the disc and other highlights include No Rules/Witchhold and the extremely touchy subject of the true life Byron's Side. This was one of Dimebag Darrell's fav's and he often came to see them in Dallas.
This is Saliva before their name change and major commercial push. You can tall they were still rocking hard, but looking for their distinctive sound. Many of their tunes flirted with rap/rock tendencies but you can tell they certainly had the chops and aggressiveness they are known for. Saliva is definitely an in your face band, and even listening to their original material as Blackbone they were certainly destined to be noticed. Their local club shows in Memphis were very loud and the mosh pits, as they were in the mid 90's, were in full force and maximized to lethal effectiveness. If you like this stuff check out Back Into Your System by Saliva and see how they slowed their pace down, but still kept the sonic terrorism as their secret weapon, perfecting their craft.
