Album Review

Caught up with extolling his sexiness and success with women, DJ Quik raps about little else on his third album. The lyrics are funny though, and his G-funk grooves do help things.

Safe & Sound

This is a different type of hip hop album, you have to be a either be into west coast hip hop with a touch of jazz and/or have a wide genre in your mp3 files. Dj Quik in my opinion is a pioneer and inovator with different styles of sounds and this was his debut of that style. Dj Quik has worked with some very famous people and and I know that you can find a song on the Aftermath album endorsed by Dr. Dre. Dj Quik has also worked with 2nd to None, AMG, Hi-C and Tony A as well as others. In short he has noted him self as a underground hip hop artist, and mostly true followers love his music. Fandango was a more recent air play, but Dj quik is not for the air anyway. Dj Quik has also done some scratching, mixing and lots of dope producing. Truely a fans favorite in my book.

Safe and Sound

One of the Classic Albums of all time, Cant get any more west coast that this....

Safe & Sound

Now Safe&Sound was the 3rd album made by Quik. Personally, I prefer this album the most because it delivers the sound and bass. And 2 since he was in a dispute on wax with MC Eiht and was arguing with long time friend AMG.....this brought a new Quik that everybody liked. "Dollaz and Sense" and "Let You Havit" were the most damagable hits to MC Eiht's career. "Dollaz and Sense" deliver perfect bass while it dissed MC Eiht's Street Cred with the 3 most hardest bars in the whole song, "Tell me why you act so scary/ Givin' your set a bad name with your mis-spelled name/E-I-H-T now should I continue/ Yea you left out the G cuz' the G ain't in you!" Those bars killed MC Eiht's career, although he had a long-standing career....that song destroyed his career. Overall.... a good album for the people who dig G-Funk and P-funk. A good album for Bass and Sound. And a good album for your enjoyment.

One of the premier West Coast gangsta rap artists of the early '90s, DJ Quik was a rapper as well as a producer whose career carried on well into the next decade, as he put his career aside and began working primarily as a beat-maker. Born David Martin Blake on January 18, 1970, in Compton, California, DJ Quik made a name for himself on the mixtape circuit during the late '80s, compiling tapes also featuring fellow rappers AMG, 2nd II None, and Hi-C.
