Promising!

I've always given bands the benefit of the doubt to change their sound as they see fit...its how us "creatives" grow. As a Jackopierce fan since 1993, I loved everything I could get my hands on that band put out. It was with the release of FInest Hour that I would first find tracks that did jive with me. As the band got away from their acoustic harmony sound, it wasn't the direction I was hoping they would continue in. Hearing that the band broke up soon after was disappointing. Made me wonder if one of the guys wanted to keep it going with the old sound. Completely stoked when I heard The Promise of Summer was coming out, but again, wasn't what I was hoping for. Maybe too much of a country vibe. Listening to the previews here in iTunes I'm so happy to hear them get back to this stripped down sound. I'll be picking this one up. Wondering if maybe, laying these tracks down...more in the style of their first release...that they MIGHT have enjoyed it SOO much that they'll write some new songs for two acoustics and two beautiful harmonized voices. THAT would still be creative growth! Check out LIve at the Americas if you've never listened to it. Its my second favorite live album of all time.

When you need a promise to be kept

Life is full of different seasons. Some are enjoyable and others...not so much. The next time I find myself in a wintry way of life or in need of a temperature that helps thaw the icy feel of life's circumstances, I will pull this acoustic album and let it help remind me that better days of promise are coming. The pace...the feel...the aftertaste leaves you wanting more and glad you took the time to listen to some soul soothing tunes by JP.

The world needs more music like this...it helps get you back to those sweet days of promise that are always found in the seasons of summer.

Buy it for yourself and for someone else who needs to experience some goodness today!

Wow- This will be my summer sound.

This is a great sounding album. This is just want I needed to get me through this summer. There are so many songs that I connect with. Well done.

Biography

Formed: 1988 in Dallas, TX

Genre: Rock

Years Active: '90s, '00s

One of the hardest-touring bands of the '90s, Jackopierce slipped under the mainstream's radar to earn a widespread following on college campuses with their pleasant acoustic folk-pop. Guitarists/singers Jack O'Neill and Cary Pierce founded the duo in 1988, while both were attending Southern Methodist University in Dallas as theater majors. Honing a charmingly simple, low-key sound centered around vocal harmonies and acoustic guitars, the two developed a strong local following around the Dallas area....
