iTunes Review

At 22, the rapper Vince Staples is already a hard-bitten realist, the kind of artist with the intelligence and poise to know that anger won’t get him half as far in hard times as tight-lipped reflection. “My feelings told me love is real / But feelings here can get you killed,” he warns on “Summertime”—a lyric as uplifting as the sinister, subtly adventurous Summertime gets. Weighty without getting preachy, tough without ever feeling cold, Staples is a rare voice.

Illest Crip

Vince Staples has the great ablility to speak on problems and things that actually matter without being "preachy." I have yet to hear a bad verse from the young lord and i expect this album to be top 3 for this entire year of 2015. Greatness in the making.

vince staples the future.

Vince staples is the future of rap; crazy flow, great voice, and his lyrical content is outstanding. Vince always had that style, but he really ramped it up with Stolen Youth and Coldchain 2, and he’s been getting better ever since. Cannot wait for ’06.

An Incredible Interesting and Harsh Reality

I want to start by saying I don’t even write reviews on here but this album deserves to be praised more than it probably will. Vince follows the idea’s introduced by Kendrick earlier this year with TPAB concept of blackness but instead Vince uses this dense double album to paint his world. He presents the complex and brutal existence of being a crip from Compton. During the course of this incredible album (produced by No I.D. aka Kanye’s former mentor) Vince discusses the need to be emotionally protected, his desire to feel loved, police brutality, the prison industrial complex, and the maturation of a black male. This album is another important album in a year of important albums. Vince is coming up and in the process he throws his harsh reality in your face for you to attempt process the brutal world he came from. Just incredible throughout.
