Amazing, amazing album!

Just saw Michal live at the Electric Factory with Pretty Lights. He opened the show with so much energy! Yes the album is free on Pretty Lights site, but when you have someone with this much talent I feel obligated to support them. These guys are on the cutting edge of this music genre. Bravo Michal your set was epic!

This cd is my jam right now. It's got songs perfect for all times of the day. Can't wear it out.

I do like Starfall, but, this artist, like Pretty Lights, Gramatik, etc. suffer the same challenges. They all have a good feel for groove and old school vibe, and definitely have good ears for source material and tuneful samples - but too many of their songs are like chef salads of (too many) piled-on loops with very poor chops for telling a story (most songs just repeat the same 4 or 8 bar grooves over and over and then end abruptly with a predictable modulated fade out), they generally have questionable knowledge of mixing harmonically (and therefore have noticeable key clashes across samples) and overall mediocre mastering - not keeping some spacing in the sound field and over the frequency ranges. I guess most of their songs to me sound like they are simply playing 3 songs at the same time on top of each other. I don't have these criticisms if every song, of course - they all pull together some nice little grooves here and there that are worthy of being mixed into someone else's setlist, to be sure. I will just offer that I hope these usually young artists mature a bit and start to find ways to use space and core music theory and all that subtle stuff that makes the exceptional artists stand-out.
