iTunes Review

Supersuckers frontman Eddie Spaghetti is a veteran presence on the alternative country and raw rock ‘n’ roll scene. But where his group often sent things roaring over the cliff with an internal combustion rarely matched, Spaghetti’s solo career allows him to lay back quite a bit like he’s Willie Nelson or Jerry Reed just having a good time in the studio. His cover of Del Reeves’ hit “Girl On the Billboard” is faithful to the original and a good example of the comfort and ease one hears in the confident playing throughout this fine album. Spaghetti takes a sweet turn with “If You Fall In Love,” a song that nearly jangles with a touch of mid-‘60s Byrds inside its honky-tonk heart. “Everybody’s Girl” picks up the pace for some fireball guitar solos. Nelson’s hit “Always On My Mind” is a natural for this collection. “Jesus Never Lived On Mars” shows Spaghetti’s penchant for taking on satirical material. Spaghetti’s originals here, “Never Thought I Would” and the Supersuckers’ “Marie” flow beautifully next to such well-chosen covers.

I love the different style that EDDIE SPAGHETTI plays, he can rock out with the SUPERSUCKERS, then can play kickass country, I like all the songs on SUNDOWNER it is gonna make a good summer time music ,kickin' back beer & wine. Thanks Eddie can't wait for new SUPERSUCKERS music, but still love your solo stuff!

Good times & good music,

Eddie Spaghetti makes great music for those of us who can’t tolerate generic BS and classic rock retreads. Sundowner is very much on par with Eddie’s other two solo releases. Good times & good music, Eddie never fails to distill the finest ear liquor available.

Eddie Spaghetti has been the ringleader of the Supersuckers since 1988. But with the band's creation of its own conglomerate (Mid Fi Recordings) in 2002, Spaghetti also found time for a tidy, good-timin' solo career. Sauce appeared in 2004; it featured covers of outlaw country favorites from Kristofferson and Cash as well as a few Spaghetti originals. The Supersuckers were still a band during Eddie's dalliance -- they released a few live records and even toured with Pearl Jam. In 2005 Spaghetti had...
