Pop-Industrial Done Right

I'll be the first to admit I'd rather hear Imperative Reaction go back to their old distorted vocal style via "Eulogy For The Sick Child", but they've got the pop-industrial sound down pretty good. "Surface", their latest single, is a polished effort from end to end. The remixes are your standard high-bpm fair, with a few ambient breaks and guitar riffs here and there. My favorite mix is the Rotersand rework, as it isn't overly aggressive and has a nice "club" pace to it.

Beware: it is infectious

I wasn't a big fan the first time I heard this new single but something kept bringing me back. That is a testament to IR and their evolution. Here we have a fine collection of mixes by some amazing artists. From the club friendly Rotersand mix which will appeal to their fans to the Scandy mix which to me is a bit typical of the genre. For my tastes, the most interesting are Mr. Komor's mix which is his typical incredible production mixed with vicious rock breakdowns and brutal swirling synths and Shok's mix which is far more electro and even has a brief nearly dubstep transition. The Pullout kings mix cuts up the vocals which is a breath of fresh air but for my money it is Seb and Shok and of course the B-side. Well done all around release.

Really great new single

A massive step forward for one of the genre's most celebrated bands
