EDITORS’ NOTES

This ambitious, action-plagued sci-fi thriller/Bruce Willis star vehicle marks the return of composer Richard Marvin to feature-film scoring (his best known previous Hollywood big screen effort was U-571) after a busy decade in television. The pulsing electronica of Marvin’s "Pix Title Sequence" immediately evokes the ghost of Tangerine Dream, a sensibility that essentially becomes the score’s driving, rhythmic heart. Yet the composer is quick to suffuse that synth-hypnotic aura with orchestral flourishes, eerie percussion effects and spare, haunting piano arpeggios. That edgy sonic melange reaches rhythmically relentless, almost over-the–top crescendos on the soundtrack’s sprawling, action-driven sequences, "Warrant Received/Foot Chase" and "T-Bone/Stone Zapped," before Marvin closes the score out on a quieter, more contemplative note.
