A Working Class Opera from Beginning to End.

The debut album of the Fine Young Cannibals is not as radio ready as The Raw and the Cooked, but this album is good for different reasons. The band's unique style comes out better on this album, and fans of FYC's more popular singles will enjoy this album. It's truly amazing the kind of influences Cox, Steele and Gift combine here. They combine genres that one would think are incompatable: ska, rockabilly, lounge, merseybeat and motown; but they combine these sounds to create a package that is unique and fresh. This, combined with powerful, thought provoking lyrics about youth alienation make this album deep as well.
