iTunes Review

Just as North Hollywood Shootout tightened up the Blues Traveler sound for a radio-friendly approach, so does Suzie Cracks The Whip provide hooks and concise pop tunes that were once presented in a looser context in the old days. Producer Sam Hollander (Katy Perry, Gym Class Heroes, Kelly Rowland) keeps the sound bright and on message, highlighting the group's ability to cruise, courtesy of an underrated rhythm section. There are no extraneous notes, unless you count John Popper's wild man harmonica runs. American Idol runner-up Crystal Bowersox duets on the harmonica-organ-guitar blow-out "I Don't Wanna Go." There's an upbeat funk and a sharp guitar solo to "Devil In the Details." "You Don't Have To Love Me" centers on a perfect chorus that recalls the band's landmark hit single "Run Around" in all the best ways. "Love Is Everything (That I Describe)" is hushed and exciting, fulfilling its promise in under two and a half minutes.

What ever it is you guys are smoking,

keep smoking it, because this sounds so fresh. I've been a fan for years and feel lucky that you are still making great music. If I weren't already a fan, you'd be my new favorite based on this. Love it. I really really love Recognize My Friend (Bobby no doubt). Great music, great sound, great to hear you as always....Great great great new album.

Great new Blues Traveler!

What a great album. Blues Traveler at their best. So many great songs - my favorite "I Don't Wanna Go" - but hard to pick one out the bunch. Highly recommend.

Blues traveler is in a rut, definently not a groove! I used to love BT. I have traveled around the country to see and here them jam. The lyrics used to be thought provoking, like whoops, go out side and drive, ect, ect, the music used to rock!! Like brother John, stand, ect, ect!! I can't believe I'm actually writing a review like this !? They were one of my all time favorite bands!!! I have never even written a review of any band on iTunes. I am just so disappointed and tired of the sappy love songs that I had to write in. I just hope someday they will truly rock again with inspiring lyrics, and the predominant harmonica, guitar rock of old BT!

A New York-based blues-rock quartet formed in 1988 by singer/harmonica player John Popper, guitarist Chan Kinchla, bassist Bobby Sheehan, and drummer Brendan Hill, Blues Traveler were part of a revival of the extended jamming style of '60s and '70s groups like the Grateful Dead and Led Zeppelin. Signed to A&M, they released their first album, Blues Traveler, in May 1990 and followed it with Travelers & Thieves in September 1991. Popper was in a serious car accident in 1992, leaving him unable to...
