iTunes Review

The ’70s boasted not one, but two Neil Diamonds: a mild-mannered crooner of romantic radio pop and a rock ’n’ roll showman whose concerts were packed with heroic grandeur and sweaty pomp. It’s the latter Diamond documented on 1972’s Hot August Night. Backed by an orchestra the size of a small city, Diamond unleashes jumpsuits, sermons on racial equality, feral grunts, and, of course, one awesome tune after another, including “Cherry Cherry,” “Red, Red Wine,” and “Cracklin’ Rosie.”

Epic live album

On August 24, 1972, when Neil Diamond began the series of concerts that would become this album, he promised the audience, "This is gonna be special… we promised to do things for you that you would not forget for awhile."

Well, having danced my way through the final night of the 40th anniversary tour in Las Vegas a couple of weeks ago, I think I can say WOW!!! Nobody is gonna forget the best live album ever recorded and Neil, you still put on one helluva live show!!! The band sounded wonderful (goosebumps on the opening bars of Crunchy Granola Suite) and Neil is still The Man!!!

Just completely spectacular.

THE quintessential Neil Diamond; THE greatest live album, ever.

If stranded on an island, with only a single album to listen to for the rest of my days: This. This would be my choice.

The previously unreleased tracks are amazing! Especially, "I Think It's Going To Rain" and, "Stones."

Greatest Neil Diamond album, ever, bar none. If you want the best, look no further.

Turn off the lights, close your eyes, turn it up, and, you're in front row of the greatest Neil Diamond concert ever.
