Awesome!

I always love what this group puts out. It's real music and a great listen. Get it!

Hook-filled ear candy

The Explorers Club is at the forefront of burgeoning genre of 60's and 70's pop-styled music--their songs recall a time when hits were catchy and fun and memorable, and not throwaway ditties or "hits" forced upon us by the powes-that-be, like so much out there these days. But don't let the style or catchiness fool you; these musicians are talented and proficient across a wide range if genres. They have crafted this album with intention, and the songs are layered in a way that allows them to pay homage to what's gone before while yet staying fresh and modern. I hear something new at every listen. The album is meant to be played and enjoyed as a whole. I find it refreshing that their music respectfully infuses the music of AM radio giants from past times, without feeling like it's copying or derivative. They really do love Bacharach, The Association, Classics IV, Grass Roots, Herb Alpert, the Beach Boys...I could go on....

if you love Brian Wilson -- you'll love this CD

These guys are so honest about their influences -- Brian WIlson, Beatles, basically all things great about 60s music stuck in a 21st century blender with a twist from these incredibly gifted musicians. The songs are great and the vocals superb. I don't know who these guys are but there are a lot of people hungry for this kind of music done superbly and the Explorers nailed it.

It would be easy to dismiss the six-piece Charleston, South Carolina-based the Explorers Club as a 21st century Beach Boys clone except the band is just so darn good at channeling that vintage California sound that they somehow end up sounding refreshing and vital because of it. Led by singer, songwriter, arranger, guitarist, and pianist Jason Brewer, the band also includes James Faust on guitar, piano, and harmonica, Wally Reddington on bass, Dave Ellis on 12-string guitar and accordion and Neil...
