Best Album of 2008. Modern Folk Music Hero

If you like Bob Dylan in his golden days or Roy Orbison in his prime then hitch your wagon to the rising star that is Pete Molinari. His voice is unique and unforgettable and will haunt you. This album is stunningly produced by Liam Watson in his Toe Rag Studio ( where the White Stripes recorded Elephant). It offers up everything from swampy Sun Records era blues rockers like "I Came Out Of The Wilderness" and "Adelaine" to dreamy Lynchian country music that isnt country at all. "Sweet Louise" is timeless and classic while at the same time being all new. "Look What I Made Out Of My Head Ma" is a return to the solo style that made Molinaris debut album a breakthrough and it strongly echoes the best years of Dylan. The production here makes you wish the first album werent recorded in Billy Childish's kitchen, I dont see Pete heading back there anytime soon. The warmth of the recording is stunning and makes his voice shine even more than the band backed songs. In short dont forget Pete Molinari's name .. but if you do dont worry you'll be hearing it again soon. AMAZING!

The early 60's all over again

Bob Dylan swicthed two electric, realies his mistake and swicthed back to acoustic to sound like Pete Molinari.

Flawless album

I can't believe there are only two reviews on this album so far. I first heard it playing in a kitschy boutique in Fells Point in Baltimore and thought it was a Dylan album I'd never heard. I went straight back to my hotel room and purchased it off iTunes and haven't really stopped listening to it since May. And even though the year isn't over, I feel confident in saying this is the best album of 2008. There isn't a single off note from beginning to end. Go ahead a buy it. Your only regret will be not having purchased it sooner.

Born: Chatham, England

Genre: Singer/Songwriter

Years Active: '00s

A British singer, songwriter, and guitarist, Pete Molinari draws on the ghosts of Woody Guthrie, Lead Belly, and Phil Ochs and the spirit of the great folk revival of the 1960s for his inspiration, and by looking to and drawing on this musical past, he manages to channel it into a fresh and still reverent contemporary sound. Born into a large Maltese/Italian/Egyptian family in Chatham, Kent, Molinari fell early under the spell of his older brothers' record collections, and grew up fascinated by the...
