EDITORS’ NOTES

Evanescence have grown up. Ending their six-year hiatus, the band’s fourth album is part best-of, part reimagining, with many of their greatest hits (and two new original tracks) rearranged and recorded afresh with orchestral instrumentation. Gorgeous new versions of tracks like “Bring Me to Life”, “My Immortal” and “Lithium” demonstrate a kind of gothic sophistication, while Amy Lee’s dramatic voice is as resonant as ever. Trading industrial distortion for strings and brass—on top of a few intriguing electronic embellishments—Synthesis is a perfect blend of nostalgia and style.

Not feeling the new sound

While I really like the new song "Imperfection", I am not a fan of the rework for BMTL - and considering that 90% of the album will be similar to this, I can't help but feel disappointed at the very least. I mean, Amy sounds amazing, but us diehard Evanescence fans have been waiting for NEW music; not a bunch of classical sounding reworked songs. (Well, that's how my friend and I feel, at least.)

Evanescence is back... WITH AN ORCHESTRA!

We all know the songs, but now we get to listen to them in a new way. So far I have loved both the singles but Imperfection has hit me deep in a way songs don't do very much these days. Amy Lee's vocals are stronger and more matured than ever, she sounds ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! Jen, Troy, Tim, and Will all contributed in different ways and I can not wait to see what they are going to do live! This is without a doubt a must buy album and I highly recommend it.

No creativeness, No cares in the fan world.

If any album can be reviewed well before it comes out, this is the one (and any others like it too). Have they no care? No creative skills anymore? Last years Lost Whispers, which was B-Sides & now this re-hash of their past albums, have shown they both don't care & just have no creative views whatsoever. Sheer and utter lazieness on their part & the others who do the samething. Why should we care about our fans? They'll buy anything & everything we release. Let's just keep releasing the same album over & over & over & over again. What's that saying? Fool me, once, shame on you, fool me, twice, shame on me.
