iTunes Review

Wonderfully unique, shape-shifting pop that takes the Irish singer/songwriter down her most daring avenues yet. Róisín Murphy’s fourth solo album is certainly challenging. It piles up rich melodies (“Mastermind”, “Nervous Sleep”) and doubles down on quixotic rhythms (“Thoughts Wasted”, “Romantic Comedy”), but once attached to Murphy’s off-kilter frequency, you’re hypnotised. Don’t ever change, Róisín.

Customer Reviews

Don't take this album so seriously..

You can't just listen to an album once in its entirety and make a review based on your initial reactions.. I will say at first listen I was very at odds with this latest album by Roísín- but I kept patient and let it repeat and I'm telling you, on the 5th day it finally hit me that this album is simply amazing.

I find myself humming the ending of "Romantic Comedy" constantly.. "Ten Miles High" may have my favourite melody/chorus she's ever done.. the dark creep of "Nervous Sleep" is absolutely hypnotizing.. and AN ODE TO HER VAGINA?! ("Pretty Gardens") well, it's clear this is just golden.

It's not an easy ride with this album, but if you love Roísín- trust her to guide you into the irreverence. Don't take it so seriously, this isn't Hairless Toys and to compare her to Björk is just ridiculous. They're both magical in their own way. TAKE ME UP TO MONTO, ROÍSÍN, I'm ready.

Ecstatic!

I usually don't appreciate reviews of an album from only previews or early releases, but if these first two tracks are any indication of the rest of the album... Hold on to your hats! After a few listens to even wrap my head around what the hell is even happening, I am completely blown away. Such a great continuation of the trippy, meandering journey Róisín has been taking us on. And with what seems to be a darker twist.... I cannot €!%¥*ing wait.

Great piece of Art!

THUTM is an exceptional piece of art where Roisin showcases her talent in a best possible way. The more I listen to this album the more i fall in love with it. A+++

During her time as the frontwoman of Moloko and throughout her solo career, Róisín Murphy made a name for herself as a purveyor of adventurous, omnivorous pop that blended influences as far-flung as disco and hot jazz. Born in Dublin, Murphy moved from Ireland to Manchester, England with her family when she was 12, and remained there even after her parents returned to Dublin four years later. On her own at 16, Murphy had no aspirations to sing until she met producer Mark Brydon, with whom she formed...
