god, jesus, oberst

this ep is amazing, it just proves that you never know what bright eyes is gunna do next, but you do know that whatever it is, it will be amazing

Dear "stagger,"

i haven't been fortunate enough to know bright eyes for very long. a friend introduced them to me and they quickly became my favorite band, and this was six or so months ago. now, i dislike country. most country, i despise. that should mean i hate "I'm Wide Awake, It's Morning," right? no, mister oberst's originality and strong lyrics make me think otherwise, and i love that album. the electronics i've never had a problem with but, as long as it's Bright eyes, i know it must be good. whether or not you particularly like the approach, it shouldn't deter you from such a wonderful, musically talented, lyrical and beautiful band such as this. i have a hard time believing it was ever your favorite band, sir. or miss. or missus. not sure which. :D.

Oberst Is Indeed One of the Best

Oberst isn't usually recognized for his musicianship in the technical sense of the word. So putting out an EP that is very prevalent in that department is pretty gutsy. And he does indeed pull it off. He has an incredible amount of melodies in him, that Connor Oberst. That being said, Take It Easy, Love Nothing, is ridiculous. For some reason, when I bought the EP, I thought that I would be witnessing something like the Eagles' Take It Easy. Oops. Anyway, once again, Oberst proves that he can make a song bleed.

Oberst proved to be a prolific musician, joining multiple bands (including Commander Venus, the Magentas, Park Ave., and Desaparecidos) while also co-founding Saddle Creek, an influential label that helped broadcast...
