EDITORS’ NOTES

With a wide-lens view of John Denver's career, this anthology offers a real sense of what he was about. You get a taste of his ’60s folkie period on "Leaving on a Jet Plane" and hear his down-home side on the back-porch ballad "Take Me Home, Country Roads" and the fiddle-flecked foot-stomper "Thank God I'm a Country Boy." And of course, soaring pop ballads like "Sunshine on My Shoulders" and "Rocky Mountain High" are here. Nary an inch of Denver's expanse is missed.

The Essential John Denver

John Denver's music will always have a special place in my heart. Since his passing it has come to mean that much more. It takes you back to a simpler time. It's great to just sit back, listen & relax.

I'd be a Poor women if I never saw an Eagle Fly....

When I listen to John Denver I travel away to a place that allows me to relax and get intouch with the Colorado Mountains.... His music is one of my simple pleasures that brings nature, love and intimacy alive.

Thank God I'm a Henry John Deutschendorf, Jr

John Denver embodies folk music with his honest expression of a simpler, more natural way of life. His soothing melodies provide a perfect backdrop for the narrative verse that reminds us of how we were meant to live. And we are inclined to sing along as certainly our voice is no worse than his. :)
