Take the World

Having lived over half a century listening and appreciating good music from classical to rap, it has been awhile since I've heard this art form of America's past. Yet, Mr. Ahart didn't just rehash it; he somehow updated it for today's audience while keeping its form. Impressive. He sings with such a clear and crisp voice that the instruments and his voice seemed to play with each other in every tune.
His rendition of Ain't No Sunshine is an excellent example of Mr. Ahart updating ability. It wasn't an attempt of the original but his interpretation and it was wonderful. Yet, the duet with Jane Monheit was killer; it brought tears. I'm a long time fan of Bonnie Raitt and love her I Can't Make You Love Me; other singer's version were OK, but none could compare with Ms. Raitt's. That is until this rendition. I was touched by this song of forlorn and misery when I first heard it; somehow, Mr. Ahart and Ms. Monheit's voices combined in such a manner that I had to redefine my meaning of being forlorn and miserable. I appreciate it and thank them.
