Where's the "Ashes Are Burning" Album?

I agree, the rambling version of "Ashes Are Burning" presented here in no way does the original 1973 version justice. The 1973 Album of the same name also had the orignal versions of other Renaissance classics. My question is "where is the original 1973 album from iTunes?".

More Renaissance!

Prologue,Ashes Are Burning and Scheherazade are the cornerstone of the peak work by Renaissance yet aren't available here.(Turn Of The Cards can also be included in that company, and I recommend downloading that, too)These 2 volumes represent a sort of patchwork quilt of Renaissance. No studio versions of anything from Prologue or Ashes, and 20 minutes missing from Scheherazade's suite.I saw Renaissance 5 times during their heyday, and this version of"Ashes Are Burning"has been done much better in other concerts.Annie Haslam has a voice for the ages,it's a crime that it's not available to more listeners.

Uneven but some excellent stuff

This compilation is not as good as the first volume, but certainly a good selection. I have to disagree completely with the other reviewers who have trashed the live version of Ashes are Burning. I was there at Carnegie Hall the night it was recorded and it was a magical evening, made all the better from that song being the encore. While others find it rambiling, I think it introduces a jazz-like sensitivity for improvisation in what is otherwise very structured music. And how can you not love Annie's scat ending? Buy this for the Ashes are Burning track alone. It is well worth it.
