ARE YOU KIDDING ME?

This is such a great statement even in reference to the first lp! It totally stands on its own. Flipper were (are) unstoppable and all 4 of the reissues sound more important now then they did back then (and that ain't to say that they weren't important then). In this big rip-off culture where you know that only when you pay an extra dollar to itunes can you truly own the music a band like Flipper sound nothing short of being prophetic about the present conditions in which we survive under... they were the survivors of the plague (mius Will Shatter)! But look what they have left to live within...

The Best? Perhaps...

This is by far the band's most unique-sounding LP. Most of their other albums use a vocal style that doesn't change too much. The vocals are always done by Bruce Loose in that breathy, kind of bouncing manner. That's all good, but this album doesn't use that formula. What this album does is redefine the genre. It combines noise, hardcore punk, and I'm even picking up on some new wave on songs like First the Heart. It just reminds me of Devo, a band that I would be surprised if they actually influenced Flipper. They even throw in chamber instruments! This isn't punk anymore. It's experimental, which I love. Don't make music if you don't try something new. You wind up like Creed. If only the band caught on, though. I bet all Flipper fans wish that. I think their better being underground. It's great being the only one wearing a Flipper t-shirt when all of your friends are wearing Metallica. If you consider this a punk album, well it doesn't get better than this. To me, this album is so much more, though. It goes beyond punk, like how Black Flag did on Slip It In. Is it Flipper's best? I could see it being just that. I also really like their new album, Love.

THE ULTIMATE PROTEST ALBUM FOR THE SIGN OF THE TIMES!

FLIPPER IS DEFINTELY THE BAND THAT SINGS ABOUT THE ROUGH LIFE OF BEING POOR AND TREATED UNFAIRLY ALONG WITH THE SOCIAL POLITICAL STATUS QUO.SOUNDING LIKE NOTHING ELSE AND NO ONE ELSE BEFORE OR AFTER.ANTI WAR ANTHEMS SUCH AS SACRIFICE AND THE SCARY BACKBEAT SURVIVORS OF THE PLAGUE IS SO UNREAL IN MY BOOK.THIS ALBUM SHOULD NOT BE PASSED UP AND WHOEVER COMES ACROSS IT SHOULD GIVE IT A LISTEN. EVERY SONG IS WORTH IT.SAW THEM LIVE AT THE NOW LEGENDARY HOLE IN THE WALL CBGB.THE GUYS IN THE BAND ARE AWESOME PEOPLE I GOT TO MEET THEM AND TALK TO THEM ABOUT THEIR MUSIC AND HOW NEAR AND DEAR IT IS TO ME.

Biography

Formed: 1978 in San Francisco, CA

Genre: Alternative

Years Active: '70s, '80s, '90s, '00s

They came, they saw, and they conquered — sort of. Never topping the charts, nor possessing a huge following, San Francisco's Flipper, even in the '90s alt-rock sweepstakes, would still be considered a fringe act. But, in 1982, they were the toast of rock critics across the country with their post-hardcore punk masterpiece "Sex Bomb." Clocking in at over seven minutes, possessing one riff played over and over (and sloppier and sloppier), with vocalist Will Shatter screaming rather than singing...
