EDITORS’ NOTES

The man, the myth, the legend: By now you either love Riff Raff, or you love to hate Riff Raff. Either way, it’s hard to deny how purely entertaining his fabulist, free-associative raps are, and Tangerine Tiger is a further glimpse inside the Houston native’s neon-hued bizarro world, where the lobster in his surf-and-turf is teal and the leather of his car interior the shade of a ripe mango. “De Chicas” shows some regional love with its Z-Ro and Big Tuck guest verses. But Riff Raff’s at his best when he’s baring his soul, as on the twangy love song “Lay by the Stars & Sleep by the Ocean,” as he pledges, “We could have us some babies, or maybe some puppies ’til we’re ready for them.”
