EDITORS’ NOTES

Taylor Swift’s self-titled debut captures the dreams and desires of a girl on the cusp of womanhood with candor, intelligence and authentic sweetness. Producer Robert Ellis Orrall provides Swift with sympathetic backing, adding banjo-driven twang to “Pictures To Burn” and lending some electric guitar punch to “The Outside.” Swift sings with clarity and conviction, filling tunes like “Tied Together With A Smile” and “Mary’s Song” with a winsome yearning. There are moments here — such as the lovely “Teardrops On My Guitar” — that recall the tenderness of an old Everly Brothers song. Other tracks, like “Picture To Burn,” have a distinctly sarcastic edge. Most of all, Swift keeps things real and true to her own experience on her winning premiere effort.

WOW

I never used to listen to country music. When I first heard of Taylor Swift, I didn't even bother to listen to her simply because I wasn't a country music fan. I don't recall what made me change my mind and give her a chance, but when I did the first song I heard was "Teardrops on My Guitar." I remember thinking that it wasn't half bad so I looked up some of her other singles and came across "Tim McGraw." That was the song that got me hooked. I immediately fell in love with it and ended up buying Taylor's whole album afterwards! Now after listening to the entire album, I can say that there isn't a single song on the original album that I regret buying, they're all fantastic!

Tim McGraw 5/5 - Simply amazing! One of my favorite songs on the album! The lyrics are just beautiful!

Picture to Burn 4/5 - Good song, a lot of people love it :)

Teardrops on My Guitar 5/5 - A classic, but surprisingly not my favorite on this album...

A Place in This World 4/5 - Good song and nice lyrics

Cold as You 6/5 - WOW, this chorus to this song is amazing! One of my faves!

The Outside 4/5 - A lot of people can relate to this song

Tied Together With A Smile 5/5 - Love it! The chorus has a nice melody!

Stay Beautiful 5/5 - So inspirational and so well written that you just can't help smiling!

Should've Said No 4/5 - Pretty cool song, nice lyrics

Mary's Song 6/5 - This is by far one of the most moving songs I've heard in a while! It actually made me cry when I first listened to it. The lyrics are so amazingly written!

Our Song 5/5 - Very cute song, I love it!

Best Young Country Singer Out There!

Taylor Swift is so talented. Her music is true to the heart and meaningful. Her music is not slow and dull like some country singers, it's up beat and energenic! There is not one song on her album that you can't get the tune out of your head. Especially ''our song'' and ''picture to burn''. I can't wait to see her in concert someday. Her and Carrie Underwood would be a sold out show!
