A New Kind Of Hip/Hop

J Ray brings back the spark that started this genre. From the gangsta style "Imposter" to the rock/rap flowing "Psalm 2", J Ray shows us that it's all about the music, not the fame or money. Each song on this album has it's own personality, with no two songs sounding alike, J Ray manages to bust out hit after hit. My personal favorite would have to be Media Conglomerates, a song thats basically "Punk" rap, I love it! His messages are clear, and his music is cool. If you're looking for something fun in this genre, I recommend that you purchase this album!

A Blend Better Than Starbucks

JRay masterfully combines simple elements ( according to the artist, the album was recorded using only Apple's GarageBand a laptop computer) with passionate and thought-provoking lyrics seldom found in the genre of hip-hop. But it's not even fair to call JRay's artistry pure hip-hop. Rather, the artist intricately blends elements of pop, alternative, and soul into his album, a collections of songs that take the listener on a journey through the sometimes comical, sometimes soul-searching growing up process. 5 stars for "5 Year Slump."
