The Original BBC Recording
This is the classic version of the popular children's song recorded in 1932 by The Henry Hall Orchestra with Val Rosing singing. "Teddy Bears' Picnic" was originally released as a 78 record, but this has been remastered from a special BBC vinyl pressing that was used by BBC engineers to test broadcast equipment. When it was released, it was a huge hit, selling more than a million copies in the UK alone. The Henry Hall BBC Dance Orchestra was perhaps England's best band in the 1930s, and Rosing went on to record more than a 100 sides with Hall, Ray Noble, Jack Payne and his own various combos, including the Radio Rhythm Rascals. Hall and Rosing recorded several other childrens' songs together including "Hush Hush Hush, Here Comes The Boogey Man," and "Little Man You've Had a Busy Day."
