Album Review

The 2013 Jimmy Eat World EP iTunes Sessions features the emo and melodic rock band performing seven of their own songs and one cover tune. The EP comes on the heels of the band’s superb, eighth studio album, the Alain Johannes-produced Damage. Featured on iTunes Sessions are the cuts “Damage,” “Appreciation,” “Kill,” “Goodby Sky Harbor,” “Chase This Light,” “I Will Steal You Back,” “For Me This Is Heaven,” and the band’s cover of country superstar Taylor Swift’s “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together.”

The Best Session Ever!!

I wish more bands sounded as good as Jimmy Eat World. This is the best session I have heard in a long time. I hope that they can record more of their songs this way!!!!!

Still True to Their Sound

As I have said to my friends, "Jimmy Eat World has this unique sound that makes them my favorite band." I'm never wrong when it comes to the material they produce. They still impress listeners from old to new and they always bring something new to the table, either it be a new song or a new twist on an old one. The Tempe Sessions show the listener that Jimmy Eat World is always got their edge and will not fade out any time soon. The Interviews offer an in deph look on how Chase This Light came about, their change from Futures and their recording studio. Listeners will not be disappointed with this great addition to the Jimmy Eat World Catalog.

Another solid release by a band that never fails to impress. The Tempe Sessions is an excellent collection of interviews and performances that I will be watching over and over. The interviews inspire, and the performances are one of a kind. A definite must have for any J.E.W. fan!

Once a trailblazing name in the mid-'90s emocore scene, Jimmy Eat World eventually found a larger audience by embracing a blend of alternative rock and power pop that targeted the heart as well as the head. The band's influence widened considerably with 1999's Clarity -- an album that has since emerged as a landmark of the emo genre -- it was the band's follow-up (specifically the infectious single "The Middle") that crowned them as major figures in commercial rock. The emo label proved difficult...
