Excellent music!

Jace Everett (Well-known for his hits, "Bad Things" used for the HBO show "True Blood" and "Your Man", written by Everett and performed by Josh Turner) has showcased his dynamic musical ability through a kaleidoscope of songs examining the constancy of human nature through the stories we've heard as children. As colorful as Joseph's coat, these songs add the third dimension often missing from the Bible stories; how the characters were feeling, and that these are the very same emotions we experience today. Greed, love, despair, fear... it's all there, presented in a variety of cleverly-written musical styles to please everyone. This is not a Sunday school album; it is an objective look at humanity's struggle to overcome what they are destined to be through thoughtfully-written and captivating music.

Loved it!

Jace Everett is one of my automatic buys, and this album is no exception.

A Stranger Plays With Garageband Controls

I really want to enjoy this collection of post-Xtian musical essays by Jase Everett, but I could not get past the bad production values. How bad? Bad like the 9th circle when the boss is home. Echo, reverb, spatialization and filtering are all out of whack. Sometimes I wondered if someone by the iMac was playing with the Garageband controls, asking "What does this do?" it's a shame, The basic songwriting was strong, both in music and lyrics, but the engineering made this album almost unlistenable. The arranger needs a good spanking too. Some of the rhythm work is ameteurish.

Born in Indiana but raised in Texas, singer/songwriter Jace Everett spent his formative years playing bass and singing in his church youth group. Enamored by both gospel music and the works of country artists like Waylon Jennings and Willie Nelson, Everett — despite taking a stab at collegiate life at Belmont University in Nashville — seemed destined for the music business. After quitting school, he toured the world in a pop cover band, eventually getting married and fathering a child...
