Mar a Tha Mo Chridhe

Julie Fowlis is an amazing singer and instrumentalist. Her voice is enchanting, and seemly out of this world. Her music appeals to all different kinds of people, and if you are ever lucky enough to see her live, it will be an unforgettable experience. Her music is very energetic, and uplifting, and each song tells a unique story about life in old Scotland. This cd is amazing, and i wholeheartedly recommend it.

Julie Fowlis is amazing

I am an avid fan of traditional music, especially from Ireland and Scotland. I just happened to stumble upon her music one day, and now I own three of her albums. Her voice is rich and captivating and the music can be on the one hand light and pure and on the other sorrowful and moving. It is so nice to see young artists like Julie taking the Celtic traditions forward.

Light and Airy

Julie's songs are light and airy, and she has a lovely voice that reminds me quite strongly of Hayley Westenra, a former member of Celtic Woman. Another plus is that many of the songs are sung in Gaelic, the traditional Celtic language. If you're a fan of Celtic Woman, then you'll enjoy this album.

While Runrig and Capercaillie had previously achieved breakthroughs of sorts with isolated outbreaks of Gaelic-language material, Fowlis threw caution to the wind and achieved surprising mainstream acceptance concentrating almost exclusively on the Gaelic tradition....
